Situated in the old town centre of Faenza, from the outside this looks like a small wine shop, but when customers descend the stairs they find a splendid barrel-vaulted cellar and the welcoming warmth of the open fire, dominated by a spit and huge grill. This leads to several air-conditioned rooms (one for smokers) dating from various periods from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century
Appetizers include pizza poverella, piadina with Raviggiolo or Squacquerone - both local soft cheeses - or Mora Romagnola and Cinta Senese salamis and cold meats, all sourced from local farms. First courses are all handmade with pasta dishes including those typical of the area and all written in local dialect on the menu - caplét (cappelletti), bigul (bigoli), paja e fen (paglia e fieno) - to traditional Italian dishes. Main courses include fritto misto - assorted fried foods such as chicken, lamb and pork cutlets, aubergines, courgettes, fried mozzarella sandwiches, fried cream, potatoes, apples, spinach fritters and onion rings.  <<<
